Akshay Thakur (born in 1991) was one of the culprits of the Nirbhaya bus gang rape case from the village Lehang Karma in Bihar. Akshay was also the convict who committed a crime in Delhi on December 14, 2012.
This crime committed by Akshay and his associates embarrassed entire Delhi as well as entire India. While India raised his voice on this disgusting step. Finally, after 8 years, the Government of India hanged the culprits on 20 March 2020.
Nirbhaya Gangrape Case Convicts Hanged

Minor convict- Resident of Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. One who urges Nirbhaya to board the bus. Released in 2015 after serving three years in prison.

Akshay Thakur was born in the year 1991 in the Lehang Karma village, Bihar. His father (name not known) is a farmer and his mother is a housewife. There is no information is available about his education. According to the reports, Thakur was 29 years old at the time of hanging.

Punita Devi – Spouse of Akshay Thakur Appeal to the Government
Akshaya Thakur’s wife, Punita Devi’s tears were shed after the Delhi lower court rejected the plea to stop the hanging of four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape-murder case. Akshay’s wife wept bitterly outside the Patiala House court here, saying that I and my minor son should also be hanged.
Akshay’s wife had recently filed for divorce in Bihar Family Court. He said that I do not want to live with the identity of the rapist’s widow.
