Boise surpasses 2017 'snowpocalypse', marking seventh snowiest month

This month is now the seventh snowiest month in Boise in recorded history.

The National Weather Service in Boise reports that following Wednesday's snowfall, Boise accumulated 22.1 inches of snow in January. The record for a single-month snowfall total was set back in January 1929, with 27 inches of snow. Interestingly, the second snowiest month followed the next year in 1930, with 26.8 inches.

With the latest snowfall, Boise surpassed January 2017, often referred to as "snowpocalypse," which now sits in eighth place overall with 21.5 inches.

With thirteen calendar days left in the month, there is still a chance that Boise could move up the list, but as temperatures are forecasted to warm up as we head towards the weekend, we will have to wait and see.
